For missions with power hungry payloads, in its unmodified form, our CommSat power system can manage over 40A at a regulated 50V.
In its standard configuration, this power system is compatible with missions incorporating deployed, sun tracking arrays. The power system incorporates a number of main elements, including a 16 section Sequential Switching Shunt Regulator, hot redundant Battery Discharge Regulators, hot redundant Battery Charge Regulators and Power Distribution Module. A fully redundant and majority voted Main Error Amplifier provides a centralised control to the system and regulation of the 50V bus.
With slight modification, this system can acheive >100A at 50V.
The system is compatible with lithium ion/polymer battery technology.
Track record: GIOVE-A (GSTB-V2/A)*.
SmallGEO Power Datasheet: SmallGEO_Power
This subsystem is based on designs licensed from Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL). Subsystems for the missions marked '*' were developed and manufactured by SSTL alone. Clyde Space is wholly responsible for the development and manufacture of its subsystems and equipment.
