POWERSCHOOL INTRODUCTION

Welcome to POWER SCHOOL. This site is dedicated to all aspects of spacecraft power systems with the intention of being a resource for engineers, managers and students worldwide with an interest in space power engineering.

There are three main categories into which space power engineering can be split; Power Generation, Power Storage and Power Management and Distribution.

  • Power Generation covers the various methods used to produce power for the spacecraft systems. Power is one of the most precious commodities on board any spacecraft and the methods of generating energy can be amongst the most challenging and expensive parts of the system.
  • Power Storage covers the techniques used to store energy on board the spacecraft. Energy storage is necessary not just for spacecraft that encounter outages in energy generation, but also for spacecraft that have high power demands that exceed the energy generated.
  • Power Management covers the power system electronics and their configuration. This includes the management of power from the energy generation medium and power to the energy storage device.

To compliment the information on the three space power categories listed above, we have power system case studies, related space power technologies, up and coming space power conferences and further literature on the subject.

Power News in the space power industry will be reported on the News & Events page, as will any updates to the site as and when they are made.

Finally, please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to submit information to the site, or provide me with any further feedback on the site. Any constructive comments will be welcomed.
