DC-DC Converters

The Clyde Space, off-the-shelf DC-DC Converters are specifically designed for Space Applications requiring high efficiency, low mass and affordable cost. Typical applications of our DC-DC Converters include RF Payloads where low noise, isolation and individual return lines are commonly required.

With careful component selection, we have been able to produce a design that is ideal for most LEO missions for at least 7 year operation at a fraction of the cost of an equivalent radiation hardened design. However, if the application dictates a converter that incorporates high reliability and/or radiation hardened components, the components in our design can be easily substituted for high reliability equivalents.

Our most recent DC-DC converter design offers SIX output voltages, each tightly regulated to within +/-1% across the full power range. All of the output voltages and return lines are fully isolated from the input. The converter hosts a number of features that ensures that the system is protected against external conditions, this includes: input under-voltage, over-voltage protection on all outputs, automatic soft-start control and over-current protection on all outputs. In addition, the converter provides command ON and OFF function and status telemetry.
