What is EyasSat?

Conceived in conjunction with the US Air Force Academy, EyasSat fills a major need in the satellite community: The need to give students at all levels hands-on experience with space without risking multi-million dollar flight hardware.

Each EyasSat module is a major satellite subsystem: Computing and Data Handling, Attitude Determination and Control, Communications, and Power.

Experiment modules are added on to this core stack, giving EyasSat the ability to demonstrate a wide range of technologies for a wide range of students.

How Is EyasSat Used?

EyasSat is fully functional right out of the box, and the included curriculum guides students through putting the unit through its paces, learning about each subsystem along the way.

EyasSat is also an excellent demonstrator for instructors.

EyasSat Modules

  • Computing and Data Handling: Brokers commands from the Communication Module, to the other modules, as well as polling each module for telemetry.
  • Attitude Determination and Control: Includes an integrated Reaction Wheel and Magnetic Torque Rods. A closed-loop-control uses the Reaction Wheel to keep EyasSat's Solar Panels pointed sunward.
  • Communications: Multi-channel wireless access to the EyasSat's control and telemetry functions. Up to 10 EyasSats can run wireless in a single classroom. Now with high speed ADCS telemetry!
  • Power: Provides switched power in several voltages to the entire stack via the EyaBus connector.
  • Structure: EyasSat's case provides Solar Panels, Yaw Sensors, Magnetic Torque Rods, and more!
  • GPS (opt): Places location cross hairs on Control Panel map. Jump start your own experiment with full documentation.
  • FlexX (opt) : Plug in your own sensors
