Congratulations to Liam Quinn

15 December 2009

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of the company of Liam Quinn, a local student who worked in our office for couple of weeks in July and then again in October. Liam is very keen to pursue a career in the space industry, and Clyde Space are always on the lookout for talented young individuals! Liam spent some time working in each of the teams in the company, and contributed in every area.

Liam entered a competition sponsored by Richard Garriot and the BNSC. Primary school students (7-11 years old) were invited to design experiments for Richard to carry out on the International Space Station. Secondary school students (11-19 years old) were invited to submit ideas on how space enterprise could develop in the future for space tourism companies including Space Adventures, using facilities such as the International Space Station. Liam was fortunate enough to win with a pitch titled Out Of This World Hotel.

Part of his prize is an invitation to Invitation to the Parliamentary Space Committee Reception at the House of Commons on 16th December. The reception is showcasing initiatives demonstrating how employers and educators are working together to promote careers opportunities and knowledge of the space sector. Liam was kind enough to to invite Clyde Space along with him.

Ritchie will be attending the Reception with Liam, and will post a news report on his return!
