- Clyde Space to Build CubeSat July 25 2010
The UK Space Agency has announced a one year pilot programme to design and launch a CubeSat – a miniature, cube-shaped satellite that will allow the UK to test new space technologies and carry out new space research ‘cheaply’ and quickly. The pilot programme, named UKube-1, will use the Clyde Space CubeSat platform and will involve a competition amongst companies and academic groups to come up with the most innovative ideas for payloads. UKube-1 will be launched on the satellite in mid 2011.

Clyde Space, the space power and nanosatellite specialists, have developed a fully isolated, multiple output DC-DC Converter for the SiREUS coarse rate sensor that is planned to fly on the European Space Agency Sentinel-3 mission. The DC-DC converter is radiation tolerant to 100krads and designed to meet the mission radiation single event effects requirements. The most unique element of the design is that it meets these requirements and is ITAR free.
